The Sydney Plan: Life after Three Cities

On 13 August 2026 the NSW Government replaced A Metropolis of Three Cities and its five district plans with a single strategic framework for 33 councils: The Sydney Plan. It sets the direction for housing, jobs, industrial land, open space and infrastructure for a city of 6.6 million by 2046, and asks every council to rewrite its local plans around it.
Eight years after Three Cities, this is the first independent public forum on what replaces it. What has changed, what has been dropped, and what does the plan actually require of councils and industry in the next two years? Does one plan serve Western Sydney as well as three cities promised? And how will it be delivered while the housing targets slip?
Join AIUS NSW for a 90-minute panel and open discussion with the people who wrote the plan and the people who have to implement it.
